The different types of people you will be introduced to and living with someone you’ve never met before are situations you will need to deal with keeping an open mind. It will not only teach you the academics, but also the basics of entering to the adult world of yours. Being open minded will help connect with different people better, learn different things about people and will help shape the way you think as an adult by becoming more understanding of others
Yes campus life at college will be very different to high school in many ways. It is true that you have the freedom you never had in a high school, which could backfire you so easily. Studying by researches could become a new enthusiasm to many as well. At the end of the day though, what matters is the result you get, not the effort you have put in to it. Your parents will only be able to guide you because for the most part of college campus life, you are your own adult.
