Brought to you by West Ridge Academy.
Are you aware of what kind of food, music or video games your kids like the best? Are you providing your child with the daily needs that he or she needs? Raising children is very hard and especially when you realize that they will continue to change things on you. Despite this, children do have things that they need to survive just like anyone else. If parents consistently provide these things while children are young they will be able to more easily move through life’s challenges. A list of five things parents should provide for their children was developed last summer.
Just hearing what your child is saying is not enough, you need to listen and understand so that you may help them. Children sometimes want something that is not inline with their needs. What they need from you, you can tell from their behavior when they misbehave and this can be the clue.
You child needs to know and feel that they are significant. When other people value them, children learn to value themselves. We must not only see the good in our students, but we should tell them the positive as they don’t always see it themselves. When they feel as if they matter to you, they will feel important in general.
To feel connected your child needs to be touched. Often through words children do not feel connected but they feel more through touch. When they feel physically connected to someone they trust and love, they will do better, as they learn that touch from you is good, safe and emotionally bonding.
It is necessary for your young son or daughter to feel a sense of safety and security. The children who feel safe and secure, understanding the world and how things are connected, are those that have a home with a healthy structure and organization.
Children need to be allowed to have and make choices. Children can feel a sense of empowerment and a capacity for learning and thinking when faced with making choices. Giving children choices gives them the ability to learn from mistakes and understand consequences.
Making sure that you are providing your children with all the important elements to make sure that he or she is growing healthy and actively contributing to society, then they will make a smooth transition from childhood into adulthood.
