Get Into Teaching English To Speakers Of Other Languages

England has one of the longest histories of multi-culturism on the planet, and our country is home to people from nearly every country in the world. It is now a necessity that anyone claiming immigration in Britain has a certain level of English under their belt, however this is not enough for most people to be able to have a decent conversation in English. It is essential that anyone settling in Britain from another country be able to speak fluent English, otherwise they may find it very difficult to integrate with the rest of society. There is no point in coming to England if you are not going to get involved with society at large.

It might be a controversial issue, but if everyone living in England is able to speak fluent English, cultures are not being erased but we are able to share our cultural differences instead of been ignorant of them. This is why TESOL teachers are so important, so adults and children who do not know English can learn and society can become a more accepting place.

Teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) is a rewarding and skilled career. You need to be a graduate to become a TESOL teacher but do not always need a teaching qualification. If you want to work in the private sector, it is possible to be a TESOL teacher without a degree but only if you have an excellent understanding of the language. To be able to work in a government funded school in the UK you will need a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). With a lot of subjects oversubscribed for teachers like English and history, there is a good chance of securing a job as a TESOL teacher for young graduates.

With better job opportunities and the chance to meet people from different backgrounds and cultures on a daily basis, teaching English to speakers of other languages is a career full of opportunities.
