How To Learn German Fast

See more in Languages |

Have you ever considered how easy it is to speak a new langauge…the reality is that it is an extremely complex skill set to learn. Some people may have a more natural affinity to learning a new language but ultimately everyone has to practice if they want to become fluent. Even so. it is possible to learn German fast provided you have the right attitude and are sufficiently motivated..you may have to spend a bit of money too.

The basic plan of attack to learn German fast is detailed below. Grab a German software course or audio program. This will act as the perfect primer to the language. Get to know it very well. Use it all the time. Cover the lessons again and again. Immerse yourself as much as possible.

With this under your belt, you want to book an immersion course in a German speaking country. Ideally Germany is the best spot but you could also go to Austria or Switzerland. A typical intensive course could be as short as 2 weeks or as long as 3 months. Of course you will learn more on a 3 month course but you can pick up a heck of a lot on a 2 week course surprisingly

The advantage of doing such a course in a country that speaks German is that you will be able to apply what you learn in your off time. The biggest drawback of learning in your own country is that you leave you German language skills at the door of the class or when you shut down your computer. Then you revert back to thinking in English.

Another bonus of such a system is that any cultural references or things that you can’t directly experience in your own country can be experienced if you are in Germany. This can help to illuminate a lesson and give it more relevance to your daily life.

On completion of the course, think about spending a few extra months in the country. You could backpack round the country or take on a small job. At this stage you need to practice and perfect the things you learned on the course. You must try to engage people in conversation as much as possible so a serving job may be useful or maybe you have other skills that could get you a job.

The objective of this is to lose any fear you have of speaking German or being conscious that it is not your own language. Your attitude has to be that German is as much my language as any German speaking person.

The truth is that people are always learning something new about the language they consider their mother tongue. They never stop learning because a language is vast and expanding. You have to comprehend and live with it. You will never stop learning new things about your new langauge. But if you are confident in your knowledge, you learn on the fly like everyone else does.

How fast you will get to this stage depends on your focus and ability to learn languages but I believe this is the fastest way to learn German or any other language. In short, develop or create a strong desire to learn German and then work hard at learning it.
