Is Rocket Language Spanish Any Good?
The Rocket language courses have sold thousands of products and are one of the largest leaders in language learning software downloads on the internet. Rocket Spanish is one of several language programs offered at Rocket Languages and continues to be a best seller among other language learning programs. Is a program any good just because a lot of people are buying it? Is it really possible to learn Spanish like a rocket as the Rocket Language website claims?
As a consumer of language learning programs such as Fluenz and Rosetta Stone, I can honestly give a fair comparison of Rocket Spanish and how it holds up to other learn Spanish quick type programs.
Here is what I’ve found. As a whole, the Rocket Spanish course is very comprehensive. It’s filled with information that pertains to speaking Spanish in Mexico or Latin America if that’s your objective. If you are looking for a course that teaches formal Spanish or Spanish as it’s spoken in Spain than this program isn’t for you. It is apparent that the focus of Rocket Spanish is to teach you to be conversant with friends and family, but they do make a distinction that you will need to change the verbiage when speaking with strangers.
The interactive audio lessons will have you speaking Spanish quickly because it’s set up in a conversational format and shows you how to pronounce and reply when spoken to. With these audio lessons there are lots of chances to get practice and repetition. The best part of it is the audios come in mp3 formats so you can load them on your ipod and take the lessons anywhere. This feature isn’t available with all language learning programs. There is also written content to supplement the interactive lessons that help you learn how the language is written and helpful hints along the way that help you understand what really matters when speaking Spanish in the real world. I suppose the best part of Rocket Spanish is how practical the content is. The main focus of the course is showing you confidently how to speak Spanish and understand it.
Finally, there is learning software that comes with the program and teaches you how to build your vocabulary quickly by listening and viewing pictures. There are so many different types of learning components in this course that every learner will benefit. However, my only complaint would have to be that Rocket Spanish is not very fluid in organization or lay out of the material. For example if you would like to listen to the audio and read along at the same time then you are searching for different information from all the material. I suppose some might think of this as flexibility built into the program because you can print out exercises or just listen to audio or play games. You choose how you want to learn the material. I personally, like something that has a progression of sorts. On the other hand, Rocket Spanish does provide many opportunities to learn Spanish at your own pace and choose the format that best fits your learning style. For many people this is a good thing.
If cost is a factor than take a look at Rocket Spanish. You will save money on downloading the program versus buying the package cd’s. The option is available of course, but not necessary. The overall cost is less than other brands and in my opinion gives this course an edge on the competition. Not to mention you don’t have to wait around for the mail to arrive to start learning Spanish. The content you get in Rocket Language Spanish is excellent and will not disappoint. The price of Rocket Spanish makes it a great value for the money.
