Job Searching To Locate New Careers: My Path to Search Engine Optimisation
Lots of people in the recession are having increasing problems with their Careers and work. Alot of workplaces are cutting back staff numbers and others are closing down altogether. I was in the same boat, though I realise I was fortunate to still have a job, things were getting rough and people were finding themselves “performance managed” out of their job. I could sense my time there was short, it wouldn’t be too long before I too was no longer required and so began the awful job hunting. Hopelessly I browsed though newspapers and internet sites hoping to find New Careers, the recession wasn’t going to give in so easily. After a few weeks I was about to give in, I didn’t even know what I really wanted when it came to Career Choices, the only preference I had, would have been to work from home, but such jobs didn’t seem easy to find… or were they? It seemed almost too good when I suddenly happened upon a self employed position working in online marketing, I was so close to giving up, it surely couldn’t be real, I must just be getting my hopes up.
A few days later and I had been in for an informala short chat to check my suitability for the job. Although the position was self employed, I would still be working under the name of the company and gaining work leads from them. The role was simplified as online marketing, but not as I understood it to begin with. This was a search engine optimisation company who specialised in optimising business websites to improve their placement in search engines. The role was an amazing opportunity. I could be working from the comfort of home, with my own hours and with so many businesses moving online, finding clients was almost guaranteed not to be an issue. The only thing that had been a downside was the initial joining and training costs, but after speaking to a friend, I realised that working self employed Careers was almost always going to require an initial investment, like renting office space or paying for professional equipment, it was just something I would have to do.
A few month have flew by since teaming up with the SEO company and things are going well so far. Looking at the details it won’t take long to earn back my investment, but what’s more satisfying to me, is the security of self employment, as long as I put the time in, I can more or less guarantee to have an income. So what did I learn through this recession? It’s essential to keep a close watch at the job websites, it’s very easy to glance over positions like this and it always helps to have a solid idea of what field of work you’re looking for. If you know what to look for and can create specific searches, finding a unique role may not be as hard as you think. Even if a business isn’t actively recruiting it’s still a great idea to send out letters and CV’s so they can keep you in mind for the future. Clearly I’m not saying you should jump straight into online marketing, there are many Career Choices available and this is simply my side of the story, there will always be something to match your needs, but for anyone looking into New Careers and would like something unique and exciting, it’s definitely worth a look.
