Learn Times Tables Well and Build Your Child’s Self-Belief to Study In School
Multiplication Tables are the most basic building blocks of maths and everybody has to learn them. Kids begin to learn them at a young age soon after they start school.

Teaching times tables by rote makes this learning a very linear method. The problem here is that the times tables are then also recalled in the same linear way. Rote learning is both time consuming and requires effort to get to the correct answer.
If too much effort is taken to get the answer, your child will stop trying and just give up. At this point, learning times tables is pointless from the child’s point of view and the confidence in the ability to learn them is lost.
Schools have no choice but to follow a set cirriculum, and teachers use the same way of teaching as in the past, schools do not do anything differently to previous years.
Young children cannot concentrate for long periods of time, and school lessons are not designed around this. Problems in keeping concentration becomes a real issue.
As a consequence, parents can become disheartened that their children are not able to recall their times tables This often results in negative comments which can be discouraging for children, leaving them feeling that they are bad at maths and reducing their confidence.
Belief and confidence needs to be built from the beginning. The perfect place to start is when learning times tables, as these are learnt very early in a child’s education. With maths, you are either wrong or right – it is very black or white and no in between for kids, and this is perfect when you want to build confidence – if a child can see they are getting the right answers, they will become more confident.
Now think about your children being able to recall the times tables instantly – without having to think about the answer – this can be done using a different learning method to learn the times tables – the new level of confidence they get will leave them feeling that they are good at maths. You will see happy children enjoying learning more, because they have found new levels of confidence.
Most critically, this level of confidence spreads to other subjects, creating good habits and attitudes towards learning. It cannot be emphasised enough that there is a strong relationship between confidence, motivation and learning at school.
