Sending Children To School In Surrey Or Cornwall

See more in School |

For many parents the education of their kids is a major concern and it is something that is now being thought about at the early stages of a child’s development or sometimes even before the child has been born.

In the England a large proportion of parents are put through what the media are calling a postcode lottery, this means that many pupils can only attend certain schools if they live in the local catchment area. As a result of this parents often find themselves forced to relocate in order to stand an increased chance of getting their child into one of the schools positioned at the top of the league tables.

Many parents are now trying to locate the fees to be able to send their kids to private independent schools and boarding schools as a means of insuring their kid gets the best possible education. The competition for these independent schools places has grown significantly with some areas of the country becoming influxed with new homeowners looking to move closer to these sort of independent schools with the hope of getting their child a day pupil placement.

This scenario is taking place all over the United Kingdom and different counties are finding they are dealing with different levels of the problem. Surrey and Cornwall are two areas of the UK that share many rural similarities, whilst also being culturally very different. These counties make a good comparison of the problems faced today.

The county of Surrey is located just outside of Greater London and is one of the smallest counties in England, yet despite this it has one of the highest populations in England. Despite this Surrey has managed to remain largely rural, thanks mainly to the availablility of transport links to London and nearby cities and towns. There are more than 100 independent schools in Surrey, which helps show that there is obviously a large demand for educational facilities within the county.

This is unsurprising as for many people working in the city, Surrey is the rural retreat away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The county of Cornwall is found in the South West corner of the United Kingdom, along the coast. Cornwall has a relatively low population for it’s size, of about 500 thousand people and is made up of small rural towns and villages. As a result there are very few independent schools in Cornwall as there simply isn’t the demand for them. Many education services in Cornwall are more than suitable for the levels of children at school age and this means that there are under 20 independent schools in Cornwall.
